1911 Standard 5 Passenger (Open) Touring car from factory literature.
1911 Five Passenger Fore Door Touring car from factory literature.
This photo is from a 1911 Owners manual showing the "Standard Touring" (Open touring).
This photo is from a 1911 Owners manual showing the "Fore Door Touring" (New for 1911 with front doors).
This picture was submitted by Ron Engle of his grandfather in what he thought was a 1911 E-M-F. Looks like a 1911 Standard (Open)Touring to me. Ron says of the picture... "The photo I'm attaching was taken in March 1911. My Grandfather John F. Engle is in the driver's seat and my father, Ross Engle, is right behind his shoulder. The photo was taken in Wyota, Iowa." Thanks to Ron for the great photo.
This picture was submitted by Jerry Cunningham of his Great-Great grandfathers family in what he thought was a 1911 E-M-F. Looks like a 1911 Standard (Open) Touring to me. Jerry says of the picture... I have attached a copy of a picture of my Great-Great Grandfather Snider' family gathered around what we think is a 1911 EMF Touring Car. The picture was taken just north of Lebanon, Indiana in what we would guess to be around 1912.

This picture is of interest to me, in that I found the grease cap off of an EMF in approximately 1964 in the field behind the pictured house. My grandfather (the little tike sitting on the running board) told me they had converted an EMF into a tractor and apparently the grease cap had fallen off in the field. This evidently is the car they converted at some point in time. Thanks to Jerry for the great photo.

Picture of what appears to be a 1911 E-M-F 5 Passenger touring. I bought this photo off of eBay.
These people are having "One more for the road" before setting out in their 1911 E-M-F Standard (Open) Touring. Thanks to Rick Arnold for the great photo.
"Harry Folmsbee (driver's seat) sits in his EMF automobile as he and four other passengers munch on apples... In 1912, two years after purchasing his first EMF, Mr. Folmsbee became the Studebaker EMF 30 and the Flanders 20 auto agent for the Okanogan area."

"On July 3rd, 1911, as prelude to the Fourth of July celebrations, Okanogan invited nearby towns to a centennial flag raising at the site of the original Fort Okanogan Trading Post of the Hudson Bay Company... Sitting at the wheel of his EMF automobile is Captain C. E. Hansen and in the other EMF is Mr. Folmsbee of Okanogan, his wife sitting alongside of him. The post was located 1/2 mile from the Okanogan River's mouth on the east side."

"Early October, 1911, a contingent of Okanogan townsmen forged a path from the South Half (the area of the Colville Indian Reservation directly across the river from town) through Cold Springs to the Condon Ferry at the Columbia River. Fifteen men in three cars traveled on the primitive Wild Goose Bill Road, clearing a path with picks and shovels. The work took longer than expected, and, when many had to return home that same evening, the party split up. Harry Folmsbee, in his EMF automobile, along with Harry J. Kerr, Harry Stark, Sam T. Nelson, and Frank Matsura, traveled the entire twenty-six miles to the Condon Ferry. Developing the Wild Goose Bill Road was said to have shaved forty miles off the drive from Okanogan to Spokane. Known citizens from left to right are: Ira Freer (standing on the right hand side of his Locomobile), William C. Brown (fourth from the left), Harry Stark on his right, Harry Folmsbee (beside the front right tire of his EMF automobile), Harry J. Kerr (standing next to him holding a can), and Sam T. Nelson, leaning on the headlight of John Forsyth's EMF."

Webmaster note: I am not sure the car on the left is an E-M-F.

"First Automobile at "Condon Ferry" October 16, 1911. Photographer: Matsura, Frank S. Description: On a pioneering automobile trip, a contingent of Okanogan auto travelers drove twenty-six somewhat successful miles to the Wild Goose Bill or Condon Ferry located on the Columbia River. Of the contingent, only Ira Freer's Locomobile made it through the whole way. John Forsyth and Harry Folmsbee's EMF machines did not. Twelve other men rode along for the adventure. The EMFs ran into trouble just across the river from town on a steep grade. Stuck, they used shovels and picks to clear a path. Some men, however, needed to return home before dark so the party split up. Ten people and two cars returned home, while Folmsbee (driver), Kerr (standing, rear wheel), Harry Stark (back seat), S.T. Nelson (standing, front wheel), and Matsura kept on through the area of Cold Springs until they reached their destination. The Columbia River is in the background.

This photo appears courtesy of Rick Arnold. Rick found this photo on the wall of a local resturaunt and bartered several picutres he had in exchange for it.

Looks like this 1911 E-M-F Standard Touring is ready to take the crew out for a ride Thanks to Rick for allowing it to appear here and for the resourceful work in obtaining it.

This Photo appeared in our tourbook for the 2004 E-M-F Company Outing.

This Photo appeared in our tourbook for the 2004 E-M-F Company Outing. The two cars on the right side are Flanders 20s Look at the cars in the window on the second floor of the building, and the people looking down wondering... "...what are those Studebaker people are doing now?!?". I wish I could read what the signs on the sides of the cars say.

What appears to be a 1911 E-M-F participating in an endurance run from Detroit to Rutland, VT. Rutland was the birthplace of Walter Flanders.

The following two pictures were sent in by Barb Hessel and appear here by her permission. Thanks Barb! She says of the pictures: "These pictures are taken on the family farm in Alton, Iowa. My father is the youngest child and is sitting on his father's lap in the color enhanced picture (This photo - ed). . The other people in the picture are all relatives. His father was Gerrit Ruisch and his mother Marie Fredericks Ruisch. Marie's mother is in the pictures as are her stepfather and uncle. I don't know much about the car. The lanterns from the car were in one of the barns on the farm long after the car was gone. The farm is no longer in the family and I don't know what became of the car."

Note the 1911 Iowa license plate. This car was probably brand new when this picture was taken. Also, does it look like the front axle was striped? Looks like light colored paint and a dark stripe to me.
