A great old photo sent in by James Goss. He says of the photo
Attached is a photo of my grandfather, Percy Goss (Hygiene, Colorado), in his EMF. I believe it is a 1909 model. He later owned 1917 and 1924 Studebaker touring cars. I don't have any more info about the car, except that a note on the back of one photo stated that the car was red.
Thanks James for the photo.

This photo is part of a much larger photo. This part shows 3 1909 E-M-Fs lined up in front of what was, at the time, a new building for the Studebaker dealer in Alva OK. The print at the bottom of the photo says "Mathews Garage, Alva Okla".
This photo was sent to me by Bud Martin in Alva OK whose grand folks sold these cars. Bud says of the car on the right side of the photo: "...is the John F. Parsons family. My Mother is the baby on my Grandmothers lap (Sina Parsons). Mother was born 3-20-1910 so the picture may have been taken early fall of 1910 or 1911."
The entire picture shows 12 cars lined up that include 1909 and 1910 E-M-Fs, a Flanders and what I think is a Studebaker Garford. I am attempting to get the entire photo uploaded, it is quite large. Thanks to Bud for the great photos.

This is the entire photo mentioned above. I had to scan this in three parts and assemble them back together. By the time I got the photo down to a size that I could upload to this server, I had lost some of the quality of the original.
This photo shows 12 cars lined up in front of what was, at the time, a new building for the Studebaker dealer in Alva OK. The print at the bottom of the photo says "Mathews Garage, Alva Okla". If we number the cars from 1-12 starting on the left, then it appears cars 2 - 7 are 1909 E-M-Fs. Car 8 may be a Studebaker Garford? Car 9 appears to be another 1909 E-M-F 5 Passenger Touring. Cars 1, 10 and 11 appear to be 1910 E-M-Fs. Car 12 is a Flanders. Notice the earlier style straight fron axle on cars 2, 4, 5, 6 and 9. Notice the small round radiator emblem instead of the embossed E-M-F logo on cars 1, 10 & 11. You can see the perforated running boards on car 5 and a shadow from the sun through the runningboard on car 6. The buildings are another story. The brick building directly behind all the cars was the new building for the Studebaker dealer. The building to the left of it says "Studebaker" above the door and the little wooden building to the left of it says "Studebaker" also. I wish you could see the detail in the copy of the photo I have. I could go on and on about this photo. Differences in cowl lights, horns, choke wires on the front of the cars. I have spent hours looking at this photo.
This photo was sent to me by Bud Martin in Alva OK whose grand folks sold these cars. Thanks again to Bud for a great photo and for all the time spent on the phone discussing it.

A number of people have sent me this photo, and I finally got a scan that was a scan of the original to post. Boy, something really did an number on this E-M-F Touring. I am guessing it is a 1909 by the running boards. Were the "see-through" running boards used after 1909?

Stan Seleen sent me this picture of his ancestors 1909 E-M-F Touring. He says of the picture:
This is Gunnar and Eva Everson with daughter Clara, Esther Seleen and Ruth Seleen out in the Everson's E-M-F sometime before 1912 (probably the 1910 timeframe).
Thanks to Stan for allowing it to appear here.

This is a picture of the rear end of the 1909 E-M-F used as the pathfinder for the 1909 Glidden Tour. I believe the man on the left smoking the cigar is Dai Lewis, the official AAA pathfinder.
I found this picture on the
Michigan State University Website
called "The Making of Modern Michigan. Select "Browse the Collection by Subject" then scroll down to "Glidden Tour". There are almost 2000 pictures from the 1909 Glidden Tour and you can spend days looking at them.

This picture is of the E-M-F Display at an auto show in what appears to be 1909 from the cars pictured. This would have been the publics first look at an E-M-F Automobile.

This picture appears here courtesy of Dan Willemin, whose ancestor is pictured in the car. The car appears to be a 1909 E-M-F 5-Passenger touring. Notice the straight front axle (as opposed to the dropped front axle on later cars). I suppose the straight axle could mean this is a wide-track model, since all the wide track front axles were straight (I think). You can also see the slight sweep upward of the rear fender and the embossed E-M-F 30 in the radiator tank.
Dan says of the picture: "My grandfather (who was 17 at the time) is driving; his father is in the passenger seat. Russell Orr was my grandfather; his father was George H Orr. The postcard had a one cent stamp, was postmarked November 12, 1909, and the message on the back was "50 miles from the badlands and all is fine". You'll also notice the reflection of the photographer is in the windshield! By the way, my mother was Russell's daughter."
Thanks to Dan for allowing it to appear here.

This picture was sent to me by Richard Warner, a volunteer at a Longmont, Colorado Museum.
Richard says of the picture: "I wish I could tell you more about the photo, I do know it was made by Charles Boynton, a well known local photographer." Notice that the font is missing from the bottom of the passenger side cowl light. Also notice the straight front axle and the upward "swoop" of the rear fender which are features of the 1909 E-M-Fs.
Thanks to Richard for allowing it to appear here.

This picture was sent to me by Graeme Cocks who is writing a history of
these motoring events in Australia.
Graeme says of the picture: William Best driving an EMF during the 1910 Bullfinch gold rush in Western Australia. This was said to be the first gold rush in history which used automobiles rather than horses, camels or bicycles to go out in search of gold. William Best also won the first four wheeled motor race in Western Australia in 1909 driving a Darracq. Graeme Cocks is writing a history of these motoring events and can be contacted on gacocks@iinet.net.au
Thanks to Graeme for allowing it to appear here.

1909 E-M-F Touring. At the time of this entry on March 4th, 2001, this car was for sale and was located in Skokie Illinois. It appears that this car was purchased by Lee Turner. Lee restored this car and displayed it for the first time at the 2004 Hershey show. Here are some pictures of the restored car: picture 1 from the front, picture 2 from the rear, and picture 3 front close up,.

This is a picture I took on the
2006 E-M-F Factory Outing Tour
of Scott Langeneger's 1909 E-M-F. Much discussion has led us to list this car as a Double Rumble Roadster/Runabout. The Parts
manual for 1909 shows this exact body without the rear seat as a "Runabout" body, and the double
rear seat is listed as a double rumble.
This car is engine number 2908.
I also found a picture of this car (before Scott owned it) on a Postcard.
